Taking a look back at another week of news and headlines from Cupertino, this week’s Apple Loop includes a stunning iPhone 14 leak, the still expensive iPhone 13, iPad and iPhone shortages, iMac Pro leaks, Apple sues NSO and Pegasus, and Microsoft Teams’ macOS dream.

Apple Loop is here to remind you of a few of the very many discussions that have happened around Apple over the last seven days (and you can read my weekly digest of Android news here on Forbes).

The Connection Everyone Wants

Not content with the potential return of TouchID to the iPhone 14, Apple looks set to bring a long requested feature to the next iOS powered smartphone. To deliver faster transfer speeds, meet legislative requirements around the world, and and to reduce electronic waste, the next iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max could replace the lightning port:

“…mysterious tipster LeaksApplePro has revealed that Apple is currently “considering adding a USB-C port to the next iPhone”. Following its steadfast refusal to move from Lightning, this U-turn would cause shockwaves across the tech world. “

The iPhone 13 Is Not Getting Any Cheaper

If you’ve recently purchased an iPhone 13, the good news is that if you sell it on the iPhone 13 is going to be worth comparatively more than older iPhones at this point in the release cycle. Good news for first time owners, but it does mean that if you are hoping for a second hand bargain, there’s not much discount available at the moment.

“SellCell’s research, based on data from 45 buyback vendors, shows that the iPhone 13 has the best value retention of any iPhone in the first two months after its launch. Overall, the iPhone 13 models have only depreciated by 25.5 percent on average. By comparison, the iPhone 11 lineup lost 44.6 percent of its value and the iPhone 12 lineup lost 41 percent of its value in the same period after launch.”
