How to Recover Deleted Files and Apps on iPhone

While iOS doesn’t have Trash, like traditional computers, there are apps that have their own “Deleted” sections – allowing the user to recover them within a set amount of time. See below, which are the main native apps in the trash and how to recover deleted files.

1. iCloud Drive (Files)

The Files app, which is responsible for storing iCloud Drive data, has a location for deleted items called “deletes”. They are all stored in this section until you decide to delete them permanently. To do so, simply go to “Explore” and tap on “Delete”. Finally, press your finger on the item and select the “Recover” option.

Keep in mind that any deleted files will sync automatically across all compatible devices with the same Apple ID. That is, if you delete a file on the iPad, it will no longer be seen on the iPhone.

2. Photos

Did you accidentally delete an image from Phototeca? Don’t panic. The Photos app also has a section that stores deleted pictures on your device for easy recovery. Simply go to the “Albums” tab and tap “Deleted”.

3. Mail

Recovering deleted emails is also a simple task on iPhone. You have your own personal trash in the Mail app and you don’t need to worry if you accidentally deleted a message. Save deleted emails by going to “Box” and tapping on “Trash.” Then drag it to the side, tap “Move” and select the box you want to export it to.
